Facilitating community engagement through mainstream organisations
New course coming in 2022! Join our mailing list to keep up to date.
Over a six-week course, participants will hear from community people about what works in making all agencies safe and engaging for cross-cultural workforces and clients. Participants will hear from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people about their lived experience and what needs to happen to facilitate strong and sustainable cultural identities, supportive communities and a safe family life.
Participants will learn about:
- Community engagement models for mainstream organisations
- Lived experience – the importance of engaging with representative agencies
- Family, kinship and community and how to engage with multiple generations
- Cultural buddies – how to be competent ‘fellow Australians’
- Using Indigenous methodologies in your work
- Developing action frameworks to integrate this knowledge into practice.
At the end of the introductory coaching program, people will be invited to join our Facebook community of practice for more information, coaching, recordings and access to other resources and events. People will also be provided with information about other coaching opportunities with Karabena Coaching and the Australian Indigenous Coaching Institute.
